For me shooting tight, or more so shooting at these longer focal lengths works great for compression and layering the composition. Using our own backyard here in southern Utah as an example; I'd shoot the mountains by the gorge at a longer focal length, compressing them all down together and really showing how vast a landscape it is. Now I didn't shoot that for this assignment as I was trying something different but typically thats how I would shoot.
